| Abstract: | From 1985 to 1994, China's textiles import volume rose from US dollar 2.74 billion to US dollar 12.858 billion with an annual growth rate of 18%, tanking high in the list of the world's import volume. Its main features include: (1) The cotton and wool, chemical fibres, etc. which are in short supply domestically need import as make-up; (2) The export expansion also needs support from the import; (3) As the fledgling "Nobel" consumers care more for foreign good-name commodities, the demand for the imported garments and decorations is growing; (4) The textile industry's using of foreign fund is also an incentive to the import increase; (5) The textiles processing trade is developing rapidly. |
