| Abstract: | The privatization of the electricity industry in 1989 created a challenging and unpredictable new environment for power generation which was based on competition. In this article the author describes how as Chief Executive of PowerGen he established an organizational structure and culture to fit the new market, cutting costs and more than doubling productivity. Privatization has also meant improved service quality to customers and benefits to the environment. |
