| Abstract: | The structure of the aggregate demand for labour is central in many key policy questions. This paper examines the existence and causes of differences in the aggregate demand for labour between Germany, France and the UK. Comparative work of this type improves understanding of the causes of the differences in employment determination between countries and may thereby provide lessons to be learned from the experience of others. It also sharpens estimates of the employment function in the various economies by adding extra observations and facts to be explained. |
