Abstract:The lack of information and the consecuent need for trust within exchange relationships have given importance for ethical considerations in the marketing process, although all markets are characterized by imperfect information which can be attributed to information asymmetry and bounded rationality. There is a range of anecdotal evidence concerning ethical problems in the marketing of financial services, particularly insurance products. The results indicate that certain types of ethically questionable behavior are in the marketing of savings and investment products. It seems that ethical problems in marketing are identified by those in the industry. Views of marketing staff differ from those of non-marketing.
