| Abstract: | The behaviour of employee-owned firms has been the subject of much debate in economic literature since Benjamin Ward's seminal paper on the Illyrian firm. Much of this debate has been concentrated on the so-called "perverse" behaviour of these firms in response to changes in output price and production costs or on the implications of the particular property-rights structure associated with "collective" ownership. The aim of this study is to provide new empirical evidence on the behaviour of employee-owned firms created through "privatization by liquidation". |
