| Abstract: | The author's experience of working with managers from a variety of backgrounds led them to think that many have concerns about the way that management development (MD) is practiced and managed in organizations. Their views seemed to echo other comments suggesting a gap exists between the real and the potential strategic role and influence of MD. The authors report the results of a survey in which a sample of managers described their experience and views of MD within organizations and discuss its implications for the status of MD. |
