Abstract:Whether Chinese economy can catch up with and surpass US economy is determined directly by three factors: 1. relative speed of economic growth; 2.relative increase margin of prices; 3.trends in changes of exchange rates. In the long run, Chinese economy will go through two stages in catching up with and surpassing economies of developed countries: 1.The total output of economy catches up with that of the USA and becomes the top nation in economy. 2. GDP per capita catches up with and surpasses the average level of developed countries. Generally speaking, in the course of catching up with and surpassing developed countries, China should maintain its relatively fast speed of economic growth and pay attention to maintain fairly high quality of economic growth.
