| Abstract: | The idea of this paper is to examine the relation between ownership structures and chief executive officers (hereafter as CEOs) expectations with regard to sources of finance for investment. The findings from a survey data of 157 large private Hungarian and Polish enterprises highlight the important roles of corporate governance variables. The paper identifies a set of firm-level characteristics that have effect on CEOs financing strategies in these transition countries. According to the survey CEOs preferences for internal and external financing sources are sensitive to the degree of ownership concentration and owners identity. The findings have significant resonance for investors and policy-makers in transition economies. |
