| Abstract: | This introduction article of the Special Issue on economic elites in Central Eastern Europe (CEE) builds up a common understanding of research of elites and the development of capitalism in CEE as developed in the 1990s. Since then, the composition of elites has been lost sight of by research. Areas for future research are identified. The German case in also brought up for a broader debate. |
