Abstract:SMEs are increasingly looking towards internationalization to create and sustain competitive advantage. This has augmented researchers' interest in examining the benefits of internationalization beyond financial outcomes. The results of this study show that having a wider international market scope exposes SMEs to a rich network of information that encourages and enhances future product innovation. Social knowledge also seems to magnify and strengthen the effects of international market scope and mode of entry on SMEs' product innovation.
