Abstract: | The paper expands and tests Caligiuri and Lazarova's model(2002) for the effect of support provided by network partners, such as supervisors, co-workers, spouses and friends on received socio-emotional and instrumental support. The model is expanded by investigating the relationship in connection with the size of the company. A study of 90 expatriates from both SMEs and large firms was conducted to examine this issue. The findings indicate that expatriates who got more socio-emotional support from coworkers also received more instrumental support. Furthermore, the size of the company affected the relationship between the network partners and and instrumental and socio-emotional support. |
