Abstract: | The article suggests that the idiosyncrasies of SMEs and larger companies explain the different CSR approaches. It also can explain why social capital is a more useful way of understanding SMEs' CSR approach, whereas large companies' CSR approach is better understood through stakeholder theory. An extensive literature review is conducted to investigate the matter. The comparison of large company and SME idiosyncrasies is presented suggesting that both emerging and consolidated strategic orientations toward responsible behavior exist. |
