Abstract:Interest in corporate culture is not a temporary phenomenon but represents a general trend toward greater managerial control via strategies of hegemonic domination. The possible linkages between organizational culture and the practice and philosophy of personnel management are analyzed, and the extent to which the concept of organizational culture can represent a strategy of "deviant innovation" for the personnel department in an attempt to increase its status, power and influence in an organization is examined.
