| Abstract: | UK companies are spending a lot of money for management consultants. They have a considerable impact on the development of personnel departments' activity. Private companies rely on consultants in a greater extent than the public ones. The main reasons of application of consultants are mentioned. The new tendencies in division of work between personnel department and line managers are examined. The possibility of substituting a part of personnel department's staff by consultants is discussed. The problems which arise when consultants' working style differs to a large extent from the traditions in the company are highlighted. |
