Abstract:The study of organizational attachment processes of scientists utilized data collected during the years 1976-77 as part of a large project financed by the Israel National Council for R and D. The influence of works sites, work climates, the distribution of rewards and resources to researchers and many other factors related to satisfaction were examined. The work conditions and motivational structures of university scientists and those of non-academic scientists - employed at governmental and industrial laboratories - are contrasted. The role of recognition, the sectoral influence, the actual research conditions are analyzed too.
