Abstract: | Researchers generally find that newly listed stocks underperform in the post-listed period. The following explanation has been suggested for this anomaly: The risk during the foregoing period is lower than other periods. The authors present evidence that the riskiness of the newly listed stocks undergoes a seasoning process. It is found that greater rather than lower risk prevails immediately after listing than in later times. This phenomena suggests that the post- listing anomaly is worse than has been previously thought. |
