Abstract: | The need to change the span and quality of competencies of companies' human resources to match the requirements of the market and new technologies has resulted in a need to rethink how people are employed, organized and developed. Some of the developments of new job boundaries and organizational structure are examined and illustrated. The economic as well as the technical factors causing a change in the approach to employment practices are identified. Some features of traditional and new organizations are highlighted. The shift in organizational philosophy is appreciated and its role in setting objectives and principles are discussed. Implications for personnel management are summarized. |
