Abstract:It is always a dilemma to dub a foreign film or to use subtitles. Southern countries like dubbing while Scandinavian viewers prefer subtitles. Ordinary audience usually likes dubbing everywhere and BBC shows its foreign programmes mostly this way. Dubbing can never be 100 per cent perfect and not all materials are equally suitable for dubbing. Now BBC uses a new digital system for bilingual productions where dub versions in each language appear on separate channels. Also Hong Kong shows a particular interest for it.
