| Abstract: | The personality characteristics, leadership behaviours, and influence tactics of champions of technological innovations are investigated. Champions use transformational leader behaviors to a significantly greater extent than nonchampions. Champions exhibit higher risk taking and innovativeness, initiate more influence attempts, and use more influence tactics than nonchampions. Regression analysis of a model of champion emergence, relating personality characteristics, transformational leader behaviors, and influence tactics, showed that champions were much higher than nonchampions on all respects of the model. |
