| Abstract: | The organization of business enterprises according to functional and hierarchical principles has led to the so-called "Christmas tree" organizational structures. In recent years, largely as a result of changing values, doubts have been raised with regard to the suitability of such structures. Paradoxically, the desire for greater freedom has given rise to more regulations within the enterprise, to more delegation and consequently to more bureaucracy. The author examines this phenomenon and suggests ways of avoiding the problem. |
