Abstract:The paper compares occupational sexual segregaion in the kibbutz as opposed to the general population of Israel, and proposes factors that are responsible for the higher sexual segregation in the kibbutz. The hypothesis is unique in the sense that it incorporates marriage and occupation markets. A warning is in order: while in the kibbutz the participation rate is almost 100 %, in the general population the corresponding figure is much lower: 63.5 %
