| Abstract: | Practical advice to people wishing to develop a mentoring relationship with their boss (or other senior member of an organization) are presented. Role-play dialogues are drawn on, and a checklist is included. Four stages in developing a mentoring relationship are isolated: 1. understanding the mentoring process; 2. initiating mentoring opportunities; 3. making the most of mentoring situations; 4. formalizing the mentoring relationship. Action areas within these stages are identified. |
