| Abstract: | There is no dispute today over the essential role played in many industries by innovative small and medium sized companies. Yet these companies still suffer from persistent problems in meeting their financial requirements. After outlining the major financing difficulties encountered by innovative small and medium sized companies, the American financing system of technology, structured around venture capital since the start of the 1980s is analyzed. The American system owes its coherence to the integration of combined organizational and financial innovations where the interventions of public and private institutions are connected. |
