Abstract:Whatever is the size of his company or his sector of activity, the French industrialist setting up in the United States is probably better off preparing to confront the dangers of strong demand for his product rather than those of an indifferent market. American competitors learn quickly how to copy successful products. This appears to be the lesson that can be learnt from the experience of companies whose cases are discussed. Better armed financially, and having a distribution network as large as the country itself, American companies often invade markets conquered at great expense by a new entrant.
