Abstract:Lack of perceived need to develop an international perspective, the reluctance of existing faculties to change their teaching research agenda, and the general absence of an incentive system to reward teaching and research in international business are all considerable barriers to internationalizing the faculty. To accomplish the goal of internalization, efforts of both of the top and the bottom levels are required. At the top, the editorial boards of academic journals and university administrations have to recognize and reward high quality research in international business, at the bottom, there has to be a grass-roots recognition among Americans that the world is globalizing.
