Abstract:All major cities in developing countries suffer an overwhelming lack of funding to enable infrastructures to meet the high level of economic growth. This is a major cause of urban aggravations such as traffic congestion. This article discusses the current urban situation, using Thai municipal government as an example. Such a site as Bangkok relies on certain municipal revenue source for funding: surtax, e. g., business office tax, leisure facility tax; local allocation tax, commission and registration fees etc.
