| Abstract: | This paper suggests that a focus on the economic causes of environmental sustainability is inadequate and that national culture must also be included in a complete discussion of the phenomenon. A model of the impact of culture based on Hofstede's work is developed and support is found for the role of culture. The implications of these results for business, aducation and public policy are also examined. |
