Abstract: | The article explores whether corporate social responsibility (CSR) issues should be approached solely on a voluntary basis, or whether some kind of government intervention is appropriate. It analyzes current government initiatives in the EU area and focuses on a Spanish case as an example of the failure of a voluntary approach. It calls for more pro-active government position in CSR related issues and details the features of a possible regulatory framework and other policies to promore CSR in Spain and other OECD countries. |
