Abstract:This research investigates the relationship between the content of mission statements and stakeholder management actions. The results suggest that social issues, even though less frequently included in mission statements, are significantly associated with behaviors regarding these issues. However, no relationship was found between mentioning specific stakeholder groups in mission statements and behavior regarding these groups. The study indicates that incorporation of specific stakeholder groups in mission statements is probably due to institutional pressure, whereas inclusion of social issues, such as environment and diversity is likely related to policy decisions.
