Abstract: | This study deals with the relationship btw. the nature of user-created ideas regarding new technology-based services and the characteristics of the users supplying the ideas. Especially, it is examined whether users' ideas get more incremental or more radical depending on the users' awareness of technological restrictions (here as: t-rs.) and their utilization of use experience (as: u-exp). It is shown that idea creators with high u-exp. and not aware of any t-rs. tend to produce more radical service (as: srv.) ideas, whereas idea creators with high u-exp. and aware of t-rs. tend to produce more incremental srv. ideas. There is empirical support that, to provide innovative ideas, ordinary users involved in ideation must both have a contextual u-exp. and not be restricted in their ideation by 'too much' technology information and t-rs. |
