Abstract:This paper aims is to explore whether fathers who spend more paternal time work fewer hours and earn less than other fathers and non-fathers. The study is based on a longitudinal data from ECHP (European Community Household Panel). The results show that fathers who spent more time with their children earns more per hour and work less per week. In addition, prior labour market outcomes are positively correlated with a man becoming a father.
