Abstract: | First the usual labour supply model, in which the number of workers is fixed, but work hours can be adjusted, is presented, the impact of world price, capital endowment, technology and tariff changes on the supply of labour, output and national income is examined, possible trade patterns under variable labour supply are discussed. Then a model with fixed work hours and endogenous labour force participation is introduced; the same type of exogenous shocks are analysed, their effects on employment and income are compared to those of the former model. Results are highlighted. |
