| Abstract: | Some misconceptions about computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) are described and refuted: 1. CIM can be handled in purely technical terms; 2. CIM solves the problems of the work humanization and rationalization; 3. the use of CIM could result in labour savings; 4. CIM requires totally new qualifications; 5. using CIM there is no room for shaping work organization freely. Based on an opinion survey of experts it is shown how technology, organization, company culture, personnel, market conditions and other factors are influencing the organization of CIM. Checklists are provided to help the realization of a CIM-concept. |
