| Abstract: | The former Communist countries of Eastern and Central Europe have undergone massive changes over the last few years. In a series of revolutionary upheavals the old totalitarian systems have been replaced by newly emerging democracies. The centrally planned economies are being restructured in the hope that decentralisation and privatization and new investment coupled with market will bring new prosperity and raise the living standards of the population. |
