Abstract: | It's been a heretic year in syndicated loans, with many asset-hungry banks chasing too few deals. The imbalance between supply and demand has resulted in a lowering of most pricing elements, including margins, commitment fees and participation fees, an extension of tenors and a loosening of loan covenants. Banks have vastly improved their capital position over the last two years, growing their earnings from wide net interest margins and recovering some of the huge provisions set aside in the depths of the recession. They are now keen to put that capital to work. |
