| Abstract: | Hong Kong has sacrificed a lot in stablizing the linked exchange rate system which suffered greatly from the impacts of the Southeast Asian financial crises. Heated discussion and great concern focus on the following issues: Is Hong Kong dollar overvalued? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the Link? Is the Link heading to survival or abolishmen? Does the self-stabilizing mechanism of the Link work effectively? Can the feasible measures be further improved to protect the Link? This article is to make an analysis of different opinions on the above mentioned issues. |
