| Abstract: | This statistical communique published by the State Statistical Bureau on March 1, 1996 brings out the facts that China registered a sustained and fast development in its national economy in 1995. Except for the decrease of tea output, an overall increase was made in the output of major farm products, such as grain, oil-bearing crops, cotton, sugar and etc. The total value added of the industrial sector was 2,471.8 billion yuan, up 14% over the previous year. The completed investment in fixed assets of the country was 1,944.5 billion yuan, representing an increase of 18.8% over the previous year. The total retail sales of consumer goods was 2,059.8 billion yuan, up 26.6% over the previous year. The figures related to the sectors on transport, posts and telecommunication, foreign trade banking and insurance and population, life etc. are also provided. |
