Abstract:This paper examines how the role stress and burnout affect on job performance. Using data on frontline hotel employees in Cyprus, the authors found that role ambiguity affects negatively on job performance whereas role conflict affects positively. The results suggest that diminished personal accomplishment decrease job performance while the rest of the burnout dimension do not have a similar influence. In addition, both role ambiguity and role conflict were found to increase emotional exhaustion and depersonalisation.
