| Abstract: | An examination of the congruence between male prison officers' (POs) perceptions of job-related stress and their wives' perceptions of their stress, using a Sources of Stress Questionnaire (SSQ) and the GHQ for a random sample of POs, whose wives were asked to identify sources of stress in their husbands' job and complete the GHQ. Two measures of congruence. Factor analysis of the SSQ revealed similar factor structures. Stress reported by couples varied within factors. Violent nature of POs jobs. Less stress from living in a prison village. Work environment. Three Tables provide data. |
