Abstract:Differences are made among stressors, stress and strain. The three kinds of stressors are distinguished as negative and positive; traumatic and daily; conscious and unconscious. Some misconceptions about burnout are cleared up. Some practical steps are proposed to prevent or reduce stress. That at least half the stress people are experiencing daily is self-induced, is pointed out. Attitudinal changes are suggested to reduce internal stress to such a degree that an individual's stress quotient should be manageable.
