Abstract:This editorial defines from organizational behavior point of view what is organizational context and how does it operate. The papers with new insights to organizational contexts in this “Specifying Organizational context” -issue are presented. They are: “Job design in temporal context: A career dynamics perspective” by Fried et al., “A contextual examination of new venture performance: Entrepreneur leadership behavior, top management team heterogeneity, and environmental dynamism” authored by Hmieleski and Ensley and “An examination of the effects of organizational district and team contexts on team processes and performance: A meso-mediational model” by Mathieu et al. The articles illustrate new and practical ways how studies of organizational behavior can include context as a systematic construct.
