Abstract:Effective management of knowledge (KM) is endorsed as an essential element for organizational (hereafter as: org-al.) survival and competitive advantage, yet again, the ways in which knowledge (hereafter as: kn.) moves through kn. networks remains poorly understood. This paper is the result of a 3-year qualitative investigation of the dynamic relationships among kn. creation, diffusion, and utilization occurring in a collaborative kn. network. The paper explores emergent patterns within and among individual, group, org-al and inter-org-al levels of learning. Two theoretical models acknowledging the multi-level complexity of KM in organizations while simultaneously identifying the common influences among them, are presented. In combination, it is then possible develop a theoretical framework.
