Abstract: | This article deals with the third dimension of the often discussed triumvirate of services (hereafter as: srvs.) science, focusing on how social and managerial knowledge can be combined with science and engineering to promote srvs. innovation. It represents an exploration of a kind of cross-boundary cooperation and joint analysis vital in this area. The authors' dialogue about the principles possibly being capable of supporting a multidisciplinary approach to srvs. innovation has highlighted the importance of talking about disciplinary tensions and priorities, and mutual sensitivity to contextual conditions and constraints etc. The article warns designer tendencies to innovate from above or beyond the srvs. workplace. It is argued for a more open approach to programme shaping from a broader alignment of engineering and the physical and social sciences with practitioner perspectives from manager, employee and other stakeholder groups. |
