Abstract:In 1986 the Nederlandsche Bank and the Ministry of Finance suggested the deregulation of the capital markets. These measures explicitly allowed foreign banks to lead manage domestic guilder issues. The minimum length of the bearer bonds issues was abolished, commercial papers and floating rates notes were introduced. The aim was to recapture the share of the lost business. The deregulation has not yet provoked dramatic growth, but it proved to be successful.
