Abstract:The methods employed to identify what may be key enterprise attributes are discussed. The following occupational groups have been analyzed: business owner-managers, teachers, nurses, clerical trainees, civil servants, lecturers and trainers. The results has shown that business owner-managers score higher on measures of enterprising tendency than all other occupational groups. The paper underlines that further studies of enterprise in occupational groups would need to address distinctions within occupational groups in terms of responsibility and status.
