| Abstract: | The basic tasks of water resources and power sector during the Ninth Five-Year Plan period are as follows: 1.accelerate harnessing big rivers and lakes to enhance China's ability of taking precautions against natural calamities and fight a flood; 2. developing with great effort water supply and water-saving irrigation; 3. strengthening the construction of water soil conservation projects in seven major river basins to improve water environment; 4. developing actively hydra-power generation.
