Abstract:"Lekai film", the favourite son of China's colour sensitive materials industry is crying for the government's protection . But an analysis shows that it is unneccessary to take protective measure towards it. First, after China's entry to WTO, Lekai colour film will be faced with threat in quality, management and price due to downward adjustment of tariff. Second, when determining the scope of protecting national industries, we should consider fully the principle of comparative advantages and utilizing the benefits of international division of work. Third, Lekai film has great dependence on foreign materials markets. Fourth, the coefficient of demand elasticity of colour film itself is smaller.
