Abstract:Investors are increasingly interested in emerging market fixed-income instruments. They are mostly buying Brady-backed sovereign debt and Eurobonds, although domestic currency debt is attracting foreigners in search of higher yields. Aline van Duyn surveys the markets. Emerging markets still account for only a tiny proportion of the world's bond issuance. Many of the emerging debt markets are expanding, however, as governments attempt to finance budget deficits.
