Abstract:The paper presents the results of a study in which three different types of anti-piracy arguments were tested: 1) stressing the negative personal consequences of pirating music, 2) stressing the negative consequences for the artists and 3) stressing the unethical nature of this behaviour. The findings indicate that swapping music on-line depends on one's attitude towards music piracy, one's perception that others want that this behaviour is performed and one's perceived ability to do so. To conclude, the anti-piracy arguments had no major influence on the behavioural dynamics of on-line music piracy.
