Abstract: | In this article the author seeks to help readers understand something more about self-deception and in particular its potential influence on executive mental health and organization performance. The author does this by addressing six questions: (1) What the self-deception is; (2) How one does deceive oneself; (3) What the consequences of self-deception are; (4) Why one does deceive oneself; (5) How self-deception does occur in organizations where more than one individual is involved; (6) How self-deception can be prevented, or at least its negative effects minimized. The paper provides a substantial list of references on this subject. |
